- ✓Keep your phone number private until you are comfortable — use the in-app messaging system first.
- ✓Be cautious about sharing photos that reveal identifiable locations like your home or office building.
- ✓Use a separate email address if you prefer extra privacy during your search.
✅Verify Before You Trust
- ✓Look for the blue verification badge on profiles — verified members have completed our ID and selfie check.
- ✓Reverse-image search profile photos if something feels off. Catfishing does happen on matrimony platforms.
- ✓Ask to do a quick video call before agreeing to meet in person. It is a simple way to confirm identity.
- ✓Be wary of profiles with very few photos, vague career details, or overly rushed expressions of affection.
📞Safe Communication
- ✓Keep all early conversations within MSMatrimony messaging. Moving to WhatsApp or phone too soon is a red flag pattern.
- ✓Never click external links sent by other members — they may lead to phishing sites.
- ✓Do not send money to anyone you have met on a matrimony platform, no matter how compelling the story.
- ✓Report any member who asks for money, gifts, or financial favours immediately.
🤝Safe First Meetings
- ✓Always meet for the first time in a public place — a café, restaurant, or community hall.
- ✓Tell a family member or trusted friend where you are going, who you are meeting, and when to expect you back.
- ✓Arrange your own transport so you are not dependent on the other person to get home.
- ✓Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it is okay to end the meeting politely and leave.
👨👩👧👦Involve Your Family Wisely
- ✓For Tamil Brahmin matchmaking, family involvement is traditional and protective — share shortlisted matches with parents early.
- ✓Background verification through community connections (mutual contacts, Gothra / village networks) is a reliable safety tool.
- ✓Conduct a family meeting before finalising any match — this is standard and expected in our community.
- ✓Request horoscope exchange, family bio-data, and references before committing to Nichayathartham discussions.
🚨Recognise and Report Fraud
- ✓Common scams: fake NRI profiles, fake job offers, urgent money requests claiming a family emergency.
- ✓If a profile seems too perfect or the person is pushing for quick commitment, slow down and verify.
- ✓Use the "Report Profile" button on any profile page — our Trust & Safety team reviews every report within 24 hours.
